We want to replace kerosene lamps with solar light bricks for many people living in villages
for the following reasons.
1 Kerosene lamps cause very significant health issues for many families and are a great fire hazard.
2 Kerosene can take up to 25% of a poor families income when that money is needed for food, books and transport.
3 Families need a clean source of light while cooking, cleaning and eating
Some recent facts about electricity
20% of the world’s population over 1.1 billion people do not have access to electricity
Areas close to Australia include Fiji and Papua New Guinea. other areas include more than 530 million in Africa, and over 400 million in India.
Light and electricity can be environmentally and socially sustainable if we lend a hand and
currently over 2. 5 billion people use dung, wood, charcoal and coal for cooking and heating.
Smoke and fumes from open cooking fires kill approximately more than 1.3 million people mostly women and children. These deaths are mainly from emphysema plus various other respiratory diseases.
Kerosene lamps were every where only a century ago and at that time were a leading cause of fire in the USA.

Facts about heat and light in many villages
Home-made lamps can be top heavy and easily tip over when not on an even surface
Explosions can happen when kerosene is collected in jerrycans that may have had other fuels that creates a highly flammable mix
Open fires are often used in some houses so refilling with Kerosene is very dangerous
Donate solar light bricks
First lights: Solar-power is not known of by some people in many villages so some education is required .While curiosity and use flourishes the benefits are discovered and this knowledge is then shared and passed onthroughout the community
Poverty stricken areas: A percentage of lights are reserved for these places where people cannot afford kerosene and need to live in the dark. Solar light bricks can assist greatly in these areas
States of emergency: Solar light bricks are also to NGO’s so they can be used in refugee camps or areas where NGO’s are assisting people from climate or man made emergency situations where light is needed quickly
